Include a Pro Bono Section
It would be great to see pro bono listed as one of the categories you could search under. Just as the categories give options for those specifically looking to tutor or work in technology, including pro bono as a section would help separate out opportunities for those hoping to use their professional skills for service versus those doing non-skills-based volunteering.

Thanks for your time.

Help orient me to my local volunteer center
I'm overwhelmed by all the volunteer opportunities in my town - I want someone to talk to about volunteering, where to start, what to try, how you can make a difference. Show me some places to find friendly faces

Develop and evangelize a standard feed format (RSS/XML) to promote global syndication
There are many different xml feeds being used, including several that have been suggested as a standard (Xcal, RDF Calendar, RSS Events) - Allforgood should work towards wider adoption of a standard as this will make syndicating and aggregating volunteer opportunities more ubiquitous. The more data that is syndicated and then aggregated, the more convenient it is for users to find volunteer opportunities.

make it easier to find the opportunities posted by registered users
I have posted several opportunities on other sites (serve.gov, volunteermatch.com) and I can't find them on here when I search by opportunity or agency name

Please include phone contact information in the API results
I have noticed that the API search results include a field for phone contact information, but I have yet to see a result where the phone number is actually populated. However, clicking through to the actual results, very often there is a contact phone number. I suspect that this data is not yet being imported, but for my project it is the most important field.

Establish a point system to measure impact
Point system would leverage the power of social proof to encourage people to contribute more. Points would be distributed based on any number of actions and contributions, including: the number of volunteers that are recruited, the number of hours served, the amount of donations given or recruited, and amount of impact, etc, and users can even give each other points.
15 votesWe are considering granting badges and the like, but the goal is the same: acknowledging the efforts of people who serve.

The URL reflects the local organization whose feed you're using
The freedomcorps.gov site used to include the logo and url of the local volunteer center whose feed it was using. Now when someone searches (e.g. Create the Good) what shows up is the url of the vendor we use, so people searching don't know that a local organization is hosting that opportunity and has vetted it. We're supplying your feed, so would really like credit in the intitial search list. Thanks

The date listed on the search results summary page is incorrect - listed as 1 day earlier than event
When I search for my events by school name (the zip code search doesn't list them), they are displayed on the search results page with a summary that shows the incorrect date. e.g. my first event is on July 25, but the search results page lists it as July 24.

Review your posts. Over half the listings have wrong information, so they are unusable.
In searching for hunger volunteer opportunities in my zip code the listings had 1) a title, which did not correspond with 2) the address, which did not correspond with 3) the description, which did not correspond with 4) the website. Therefore NONE of the first ten listings had information that I could use to become a volunteer in my neighborhood. You are failing.

How can I post a need for a "mentor" for my child?
How can I post a request for a mentor for my child? I have sons who want a college student or college graduate to give them advice on dating, help give them encouragement to do well in school, play ball (baseball, basketball, tennis, etc.) with one or both of them. I can't figure out how to post a request. I applied to Big Brother Big Sister about 6 months ago but they say they don't get any volunteers in the Lake Conroe area. Please offer this connection service via your web site. Obviously, the parent should screen the mentor before…
6 votesRight now we don’t have a way for users to submit listings for service. We are considering adding this in the future.

Local Events/Opportunties Calendar
I think All for Good should develop a visually easy-to-use and smooth-scrolling (like seadragon-smooth) calendar.
Imagine if every city had ONE place where they could find information about everything non-profit coming up. Something you could sort by date, location, topic, event type, organisation etc.
What I meant by seadragon-smooth is that you should be able to zoom right out (so you can see 6 months at once... and then right back in (so you can only see one day) but totally smoothly. Obviously for some cities you could have hundreds of "for good" events on one day, which is why…

Category Section
I'm wondering if its feasible to "edit" the "category" section of the all for good gadget? I realized that its too limited to six (6) categories (Animals, Education, Health, Nature, Seniors, Technology), how about if we want to add up e.g Youth, Women (just to be specific)? Can u add a tool for this?
Thanks,
Dindin5 votesI will forward this to our Gadget group. Thank you taking the time to give us feedback.

Give "advanced" search options
For example, I searched under "MLK day" but got no relevant results, yet MLK.org links to this site via serve.gov It would be nice to have advance options to search for special events, by organization names, to NOT search for something, etc. For example, I got better results when I searched for "King Day of Service", but I also live in Philadelphia which is near "King of Prussia, PA" which kept popping up.

Allow us to go to the 2nd page of opportunities
I have been trying to use your service to find opportunities for Memphis TN for MLK day. Your system will not allow me to look at more than the 1st page of listings. Please fix this

Make it obvious the types of activities I can volunteer my company for in addition to causes.
I'm a web developer and web hosting provider. I don't need to be any particular place to volunteer my services. Why doesn't your service provide a way to search on the types of volunteer work that are needed instead of just the cause and location. Thanks - Jon
